Coffee has been a beloved beverage for centuries, and its popularity only continues to grow. Turkish coffee, in particular, has a rich history dating back to the 15th century. It was first introduced in the Middle East and was originally banned under Quran laws because of its status as a drug. However, the Ottoman Empire eventually began to spread its consumption, and by the late 17th century, it had reached Britain and France. Today, Turkish coffee is known for its strong and flavorful taste, and is widely considered the preferred coffee drink. Turkish coffee with cardamom is quite popular all over the world today.

In today’s day and age, Turkish coffee is synonymous with a strong and flavorful cup of coffee. Due to its rich taste and its simplicity of preparation, it is widely seen as the coffee drink of choice. It has also become highly popular because of its unique brewing method, i.e in a cezve over hot sand.

Turkish Coffee in sand

A pan filled with hot sand is how Turkish coffee was originally brewed . That allowed total control over the heat and the coffee did not boil over. Hence, some people also refer to Turkish style coffee as the hot sand coffee.

However, sand is not compulsory to brew yourself a cup of Turkish coffee. The essence of the coffee lies in applying proper heat and adding a hint of cardamom to it. We recommend using one of our artisanal coffees, the Bynemara estate coffee to make Turkish coffee at home. It is available in the Turkish coffee powder style or the Turkish grind.
