When you visit Bombay Island Coffee Cafe, which we’re sure you will soon do, you will find a ‘spiced latte’ coffee in our hot coffees. This is an in house speciality made with artisanal coffee, some secret spices, and steamed milk. Before we tell you how we came up with this spiced latte, let us roll back and pay our respect to the pumpkin spiced latte which started it all!

Pumpkin spice latte, is a popular coffee drink that is enjoyed during the fall season. It's a warm and comforting beverage that is perfect for cozying up on a chilly day. It may not be very popular in India yet, but the West is in love with this Halloween themed coffee.

History of Pumpkin Spiced Latte
The first pumpkin spiced latte was created in 2003 by Starbucks, and it quickly became a hit among coffee lovers. The drink was inspired by traditional fall flavours, such as cinnamon, nutmeg, and pumpkin. Starbucks' version of the spiced latte is made with espresso, steamed milk, and a pumpkin spice syrup, which contains a blend of cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, and cloves.

Since then, the pumpkin spiced latte has become a seasonal staple in coffee shops across the world. It's a drink that is enjoyed by many during the fall season, and it has inspired countless variations and adaptations. Starbucks sells over 200 million cups of spiced latte every year.

It’s surprising to know that the original Starbucks spiced latte contained no actual pumpkin, only pumpkin spice flavouring. The popularity of the spiced latte has inspired other seasonal coffee drinks, such as peppermint mocha and gingerbread latte.

Bombay Island Coffee’s Spiced Latte
In India, the home version of coffee generally has some spices in it. A homemade cup of coffee made from milk, water, and instant coffee powder is elevated by some cardamom or nutmeg. But in coffee shops, spiced coffee was an alien idea. It became acceptable with pumpkin spiced coffee. A spiced latte is similar to a regular latte. It is made with a shot of espresso and two-thirds of steamed milk, topped with a thin layer of foam. A spiced latte remains essentially the same but it has spices infused in the coffee.

A Bombay Island Coffee, our spiced latte brings the best of both worlds. With artisanal coffee and a rich espresso blend, you get a perfect latte with the goodness of Indian spices like cinnamon, clove, javitri, and star anise. The resulting spiced latte is a beautiful hot coffee beverage, perfect for slow evenings and wholesome conversations.
